World Wetlands Day is celebrated internationally on February 2 every year. Wetlands are beautiful and tranquil spaces that filter our water by removing naturally occurring sediments and pollutants as well as excess nutrients from agricultural and other sites. Nature makes inland and coastal wetlands such as marshes, rivers, floodplains, swamps, estuaries, mangroves and coral reefs. Wetlands are the kidneys of our watersheds.
